Micro Swiss Upgrades for Creality Ender and CR10 3D Printers.

1. TwinClad Plated Brass Nozzle

A cheap and rather simple upgrade for your new Creality 3d printer is the nozzle. All of Micro Swiss nozzles come with what they call their TwinClad XT coating (excluding the M2 range). TwinClad XT is a nickel composite coating designed for very low friction. It offers one of the lowest coefficient of friction, better than nickel with PTFE co-deposit. This coating is also very hard and abrasion resistant. The coating also lowers the chance of filament building up and sticking onto the nozzle. They also offer A2 steel nozzles. High performance A2 tool steel nozzles are designed to work with the most abrasive filaments like carbon fiber filled and glow in the dark.

2. All Metal Hotend

The standard hotend which comes with the Ender 3 and CR-10 relies on the bowden tube running through the cooling and heater block making a seal with the nozzle. The problem with this design is that over time and with higher temperatures the bowden tube will degrade causing the seal between the bowden tube and nozzle to fail. This is the main cause of filament blockages. With an all metal hotend, the bowden tube is inserted into the top of the cooling block and the filament travels via a path cut to precision down to the heat break and finally the nozzle. With all parts being metal it greatly reduces the chance of blockages and allows you to print at higher temperatures.

3. Extruder Direct Drive

Micro Swiss offers three types of extruders ranging in price and difficulty and performace.

Dual Gear Bowden Extruder. This would have to be the simplest and cheapest upgrade for your Creality 3d printer. CNC cut frame plus the dual gears will ensure your filament extrudes without slipping. Designed to be a straight swap for your single gear, plastic extude which comes standard with Ender 3 3d printers.

Direct Drive. With thousands of 5 star reviews online this is one of their most proven and successful upgrades for the Creality Ender and CR 3d printers. It takes your bowden extruder motor and mounts it above the hotend shortening the filament path giving you more precise filament flow. This can add weight to your gantry and some say will reduce the speeds you can print at. But with the implementation of Linear Advance and Input Shaper this is no longer an issue. Designed to be a straight bolt on with the only software changes needed being your e-steps. Available for Ender 3, CR-10 and Ender 5

Micro Swiss NG. The newest product to their lineup. This direct drive extruder overcomes the shortcomings of all current counterparts on the market, to create an optimal printing experience for everyone. With the Bevel Gear design, they were able to achieve the industry’s shortest filament path (less than 41mm). The unique motor placement allows for highly compact, low overhang design. This further increases system rigidity. Designed to be a straight swap.
